An Overview of United Airlines

Currently, United Airlines, the fourth largest airline in the world, serves 238 domestic destinations and 118 international destinations in 48 countries across five continents. United's leadership has promised that once regular flights to Africa have resumed, service to the other five continents will pick back up as well. The airline operates out of eight separate hubs around the United States and its territories in order to accommodate its extensive domestic and international routes. In terms of global regulation, Chicago-O'Hare is the most significant hub.

The History of United Airlines

United Airlines had its roots in the early 20th century. The airline has come a long way during the past 90 years, transitioning from Swallow aircraft to Dreamliners. Walter T. Varney established the company in 1926 under the name Varney Air Lines. United's first aeroplane took to the air in April of 1926, making the trip from Pasco, Washington to Boise, Idaho. Everything got to where it needed to go without a hitch. In 1934, Varney also started what would become Continental Airlines under the moniker Varney Speed Lines.
This airline has made an exceptional contribution to the development of the aviation sector through cooperation, including becoming the first to fly a Boeing 777 in 1995 and a founding member of the Star Alliance in 1997. Each company has experienced rapid expansion over the years, and now, under the United Airlines banner, they offer service to hundreds of locations worldwide. After merging in 2010, the new United Airlines is the third largest airline in the world.
